Two Polish squadrons

The sky over England was defended by two Polish squadrons numbered 302 and 303.
The 302 squadron was formed on July 10, 1940. This unit continued the traditions of 3rd fighter squadron of 3rd aviation regiment based in Poznań before World War II. The first commander of 302 squadron was S/Ldr Jack Satchell, and his Polish counterpart was S/Ldr Mieczysław Mümler.
The 303 squadron was formed on July 15, 1940. Pilots of this unit came from 111 and 112 squadrons of 1st aviation regiment based in Warsaw. The first commander of 303 squadron was S/Ldr Ronald Kellet, and his Polish counterpart was S/Ldr Zdzisław Krasnodębski.
Both units were equipped with Hawker Hurricane Mk. I fighters.
